Summer Day in Albania (in Albanian Dita e Verës) is a traditional holiday celebrated on March 14th, symbolizing the beginning of spring and the arrival of warmer weather. It is one of the most popular and beloved holidays in Albania, with deep roots in folk culture and historical traditions.

Traditions and Customs
Festivities. On Summer Day, people gather in the streets, organize folk festivals, sing traditional songs and dance. The holiday is accompanied by cheerful processions and mass events, where everyone from children to the elderly participate.

Honoring Nature. This day symbolizes gratitude to nature for its gifts, and often people go out into nature to welcome spring. In some regions of Albania, it is customary to decorate houses with green branches, as well as to make bonfires.

Al fresco dining. One of the customs is to hold family and friendly dinners in the open air. On this day, people often prepare traditional dishes and invite friends and relatives.

Folklore festivals. In many areas of Albania, folklore concerts and theatrical performances are held, where songs and dances are performed that reflect ancient customs.
